Doctrinal Statement

About the Bible: 2 Peter 1:20-21
  • God chose men from many walks of life, with various interests and skills to write down His messages to us.  God used these men and their various personalities to deliver His Word to us.
  • He breathed into them His Word and they wrote it down, in the original text, in their native language, displaying their writing style, interests and personalities.
  • God is the author of these words, they are infallible, perfect, reliable & flawless.

About God: Matthew 28:19 & 20; Ephesians 3:14-17
  • There is only one God, who has existed eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • Each person of the Godhead has a unique purpose and function, but are yet one.

About the Lord Jesus Christ: John 10:30; 14:9 & 10, 1 John 2:24, 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:15; Matthew 28:5-7; Matthew 26:64;  Mark 14:62
  • His Title: Lord: Supernatural master over all [Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains: Greek (New Testament)]
  • His Name: Jesus - Saviour
  • His Title: Christ – Messiah, anointed one
  • He is the only Son of God
  • He was born of a virgin
  • He lived a sinless life
  • He performed miracles: acts which seems contrary to nature, but something only God could do.
  • He took our punishment for sin upon himself when he died on the cross.
  • He rose from the dead
  • He ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father
  • He will return to this earth one day to reign forever

About the Ministry of the Holy Spirit:  2 Corinthians 3:18; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 6: 10 – 17; 1 Corinthians. 12:1-11
  • The Holy Spirit gives the believer the strength and power to live in obedience to God and His Word and transforms them into the image of Christ.
  • The Holy Spirit gives us power to enable us to be witness for Christ.
  • The Holy Spirit gives us power over the sin in our life.
  • The Holy Spirit gives the believers gifts to be used in ministry.

About Sin: Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23
  • Everyone has sinned and falls short of being the person God wants them to be
  • Sin separates us from God

About Salvation: Romans 6:23; Romans 6:1-5; 2Corinthians 5:17
  • Salvation from the punishment of sin only comes through the forgiveness of sins which only Jesus Christ is able to provide because of his death and resurrection.
  • Salvations makes us a new creation in Christ.

About the Christian Life: Psalm 86:3; Isaiah 58:2; Luke 9:23
  • Followers of Jesus are encouraged to be renewed in him each day.  They need to consciously give themselves to God’s will daily. Renewing, refreshing and growing in Christ only occurs when we spend time in His Word and talk with Him in prayer.  The more believers read, study, learn, love and obey His Word, the more they become like Him each day.
  • Followers of Jesus are able to live a godly life because of the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

About the Future
  • At a time known only to God, both those who are following Jesus, and those who are not will experience life after death.  Those who do not follow Jesus will live forever out of the presence of God, and will experience all that God has planned for those who reject him.  Those who have accepted the invitation to follow Jesus will know the peace and joy of their sins forgiven, and will live forever with Him in the home He has prepared for them.
  • Jesus Christ will return to earth, the second coming.  It is the hope of each Christian. Revelations 19:7&8
  • I believe that this second coming will be personal, bodily, visible, and sudden. Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
  • I believe it will be pre-millennial Revelations 20:4-6
  • I believe this as  is a motive for holy living and a reason for each Christian to be actively involved in bringing others to Christ today. 1 Timothy 6:12-14; 1 John 3:2&3; Revelations 5: 9&10
  • I do not believe we can know when His return will be. 1 Timothy 6:15
  • I believe in the bodily resurrection of those who have been “saved” John 6:39&40; Romans 8:10-11, 19-23; 2 Corinthians 4:14
  • I believe that Christ will reign on earth for a thousand years with His Church.  During this time Satan and his followers will be bound and the curse of evil will be taken from the world. Isaiah 2:1-4; 11:6-9; Revelations 20:1-6
  • I believe those who are not saved will be raised to be judged and to be eternally punished. Daniel 12:2&3; Revelation 20:13-15

One’s view on the second coming should not determine “fellowship.” However, one’s view on Christ’s return, and the events following, will most likely determine their passion for proclaiming the message of Christ, and will affect the way one lives their life.

You can follow Jesus also.  I suggest that you go to the source, God’s Word to find out more about Jesus.  Some of the details of his life on earth are recorded in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the first four books of the New Testament in scripture.
