HElpful hints from facebook

​I know, I know, Facebook takes up too much of our time; but please read a little further.  It sent me to God’s word recently.
 
I am constantly surprised at the choices fellow followers of Jesus make.  How can they choose to go to the movies they go to? How can they engage in the same types of entertainment that those who do not love and follow Jesus participate in?  I find myself starting to judge and criticize and then I stop myself.  I am only responsible for my obedience to what Christ has impressed upon my heart.  I am not responsible for their choices.  And then, sometimes I fail. Sometimes my choices have not been in line with my own values and convictions.
 
Recently I read a helpful article that came through Facebook.  It has helped me to refocus:  “Seven Questions to Ask Before You Watch ‘Deadpool’.  Now, I won’t ever watch ‘Deadpool’ because superhero movies do not interest me.  However, I used these questions to develop my own.  Questions that I can use to help me evaluate all of my entertainment. 

1. Will I need to “Tear out my eye” after I watch / listen to this? Matthew 5:28-29 instructs us to take out the eye that is causing us to sin.
2. Will this enhance my hunger and thirst for God?  "As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, God."  Psalm 42:1
3. Would I want my children to be playing those roles?
4. Do I have doubts about watching / listening to this?  "But he who has doubts is condemned, if he eats, because he does not act from faith; for whatever does not proceed from faith is sin." Romans 14:23  
5. Will I be able to continue to pray while watching/listening to this?   "Pray without ceasing."  1 Thessalonians 5:17

 
I have a feeling a few more things will come off my entertainment list.
