Recently I was preparing to present a one-day retreat. I had set aside the entire day to put the final touches on the material.
As I settled down to work I soon discovered that my email was not working properly. This did not really affect my preparations, but it certainly did niggle away at my concentration. Knowing I could not communicate through email bothered me, and for awhile it kept me from completing the tasks at hand. I had received some important email, and could not respond quickly. This situation made me wonder if I care about my wireless connection to God as much as I do about my wireless connection to my friends, family, and fellow workers? The error message I received said to try again later because the system was busy. Do I send that message to God without even realizing it? Am I too busy to talk to God, and more importantly, to stop, be still and listen to Him? God’s word tells us He is always there. He will always listen. Psalm 4:3 But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. John 9:31 We know that… if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. His wireless system is never too busy, never down, never slow, but always powered up and ready to communicate with me. Am I ready to hear His voice when He speaks to me… or am I too busy? I am happy to report that I was able to put aside my email problems and finish my preparations that day. And surprise! By the time I had completed everything, my email was working again!
